Menopausal women and their doctors are reporting good results with bioidentical hormones, but use of these plant-based substances is unregulated, leaving some experts worried. Amy Dodd understands some people see her as a guinea pig—in fact, she uses that term herself. The hormones that Dodd, 57, has taken for about a year to fight hot flashes and falling energy levels aren’t backed by comprehensive or long-term safety studies.
